Instagram tests a new reposts feature

Instagram is testing the ability for users to repost posts, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Monday. The move doesn’t come as a surprise, as the social network was seen developing the feature as far back as 2022.

Some users have reported seeing the feature on their accounts, with one noting that users will be able to repost their own content in addition to other users’ posts.

Of course, not everyone will be on board if Instagram decides to roll out the change officially, especially since it would add yet another content format to a platform already overcrowded with posts, Stories, Reels, Notes, DMs, ads, and more.

Meta advises page managers to include links in post comments

Over the weekend, several users noted this recommendation in their post-specific insights in the Professional Dashboard for their Facebook Pages:

It has been confirmed that the official advice from Facebook is that you should be adding your links in the first comment, as opposed to including the URL in your post body.

The exposure for link posts has been declining over time, which suggests that Meta’s algorithm is looking to drive users away from link posts, with video content being the main beneficiary of that switch.

Meta AI’s public feed is a gold mine of accidental oversharing

Meta launched its standalone AI app last year. The assistant, which now runs on Llama 4, is integrated into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, and is designed to answer questions, generate images, and help users with everyday tasks.

A serious misunderstanding with the functionality of the Meta AI app is causing people to publish deeply private conversations inadvertently on a public feed.

A thread from an X user highlighted the issue and shared some examples. The user had seen confessions of affairs, medical questions, legal dilemmas, and tax records – all visible to anyone browsing the app’s Discover tab.

Snapchat adds new creator tools

Snapchat is introducing some new ways to make more use of your content, along with some additional analytics elements to help creators improve their in-app performance.

A new update will enable you to create videos from your Memories, essentially building a highlight reel clip of your favourite Snapchat moments.

Another focus of the update is that Snapchatters will now be able to automatically save public Stories directly to their profile, as per Snapchat: “so that fans can catch up on and revisit their favorite creator content.”

Instagram users complain of mass bans, pointing finger at AI

Instagram users have complained about a significant increase in accounts being mistakenly banned or suspended. Many suspect, without direct evidence, that the issues may have to do with the use of AI automation.

Reached for comment, Meta has so far not offered an on-record statement.

According to a growing number of social media posts, including on sites like Reddit and X, Instagram users report that their accounts were banned even though they had not violated the company’s terms of service or other policies. In addition, when they submitted an appeal to have their account reviewed, some claimed they received no response.

Others pointed out that they have no other way to directly contact a member of Meta’s support team, leaving them at a loss for what to do next.
