How “today's audience is tomorrow’s speakers” and the importance of investing in future talent

Democracy is a PR and social agency powered by fresh, idea-driven, talent who are curious to learn - and that is why we partnered with TEDx and a local high school this month.

We sponsored the Manchester event and teamed up with 15 students from Loreto High School, just a mile away from our Chorlton office, to explore a range of expert talks – from neuroscientists to international magicians.

The TEDx programme ignites imaginations across the country and its mission to awaken curiosity and propel the pursuit of knowledge is more relevant than ever in the digital age.

Democracy employs seven Degree Apprentices, in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University, and gives the opportunity to build a career and thrive, celebrate individuality, encourage questions and build on each other’s ideas.

We’re committed to helping people develop the confidence and skills to shape their future.

Partnerships that inspire

Democracy partnered with TEDx, an organisation that promotes original thinking and creativity, and is led by individuals looking to inspire the next generation.

Loreto High School is just a five-minute drive from our office, and we gave 15 students the opportunity to soak up the TEDx talks in Bridgewater Hall on March 7.

One student revealed his “point of view on life has changed” and another said, “it’s fun to see others in different fields and how they experience things”.

“Today's audience is tomorrow’s speakers”, said Democracy CEO Jen O’Grady, to highlight the importance of nurturing these emerging voices.

Community partnerships support and build strong neighbourhoods and give the younger generation the chance to flourish and succeed. Giving students industry insight can help improve their outlook on life, boost engagement and drive ambition.

Big ideas start with every voice

PR thrives on new ideas and fresh perspectives, making it especially important to bring in viewpoints from a wide range of generations.

We actively invest in emerging talent through initiatives such as our Digital Marketing apprenticeship programme, delivered in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, alongside offering work experience opportunities.

We embrace perspectives from all ages and that's why as an agency we give everyone an equal voice.

Giving ideas a platform is essential, as it allows us to drive conversations where people can connect, collaborate, and grow.

This matters because in the age of algorithms and an ever-changing media landscape, original and bold thinking is critical to shape effective marketing strategies and leads to successful PR, social and influencer campaigns for our clients.
