LUCY VARLEY

Lucy joined the Democracy family as Digital Storyteller in 2025, bringing with her more than 10 years of newsroom experience from her previous roles as Features Editor at Cavendish Press and later, Commercial Editor at Reach PLC.

She has written for regional and national titles and even some international publications, including Manchester Evening News, OK!, Mirror, Daily Mail, Closer, The Sun and New York Post. Soon after joining the agency, Lucy was appointed as one of two News and Content Editors.

She brings both editorial expertise and sharp commercial instincts to identify and execute top-shelf storytelling opportunities, ensuring our clients make headlines for all the right reasons. Lucy works across our growing family of clients.

She is responsible for filming and producing video content and written PR across broadcast, print and digital, and is hoping to move into the podcast space this year. She also interviews key stakeholders, crafts press releases and maps out sell-in strategies, as well as delivering media training to our clients.
