The people at Democracy are our most valuable asset and we treat them with the respect they deserve, investing in their training and developing rewarding the hard work they do every single day.
We come from different backgrounds and contribute a range of skills and experiences, yet as a team there is much that we share. We’re all talented problem solvers, we have great skills in English, we have strong attention to details and we’re all able to form relationships quickly. In short, we are naturally good at the job we do.
We are always looking for good people, so even if we don’t have the perfect job description for you, please get in touch, we’d love to get to know you better.

Our culture is very supportive of each and every team member. We know that personal development at every level is very important and every team member has a personal development plan, using a combination of formal and informal training sessions.
We all believe in our clients and we’re committed to help share their stories with the world.
We start work at 8.30am and over coffee and papers we cover what’s making news that day, both online and in print. This part of the day is all about spotting news opportunities for clients, and staying ahead of the curve.
We finish at 5.30pm – and we really do finish then. We don’t encourage people to work late on a regular basis, we prefer that you have a life, have some fun, get some sleep and come back ready to crack on the next day.
After hours, there’s plenty going on. We’re on Beech Rd in Chorlton (the Islington of Manchester), so wine in the sunshine is often the perfect end to a great day. There are monthly nights out, plenty of organised team experiences (this year the annual away weekend involves competitive sailing – you should know – we’re all VERY competitive) and even the odd game of pub golf.
We have a contributory pension scheme for all team members and a health scheme that offers cash back for a variety of appointments for health, dental and optometry.
We filter people out at CV stage people who don’t meet the minimum criteria (so read this page carefully, there are a lot of clues!). Then we’ll invite you in to complete a psychometric test. We’ve been testing people since the business started and it really helps us to find people who are naturally good at their job, but also those who will be happy here. Then, for those candidates who have scored highly, we will invite you in for interview.
Sound interesting? Then send a one page CV and a cover letter explaining why you really want a job at Democracy to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll be in touch.
NB: we do not accept CVs from recruitment consultants.
