Any one who knows a thing about PR knows that building strong media relationships is the key to fantastic coverage. But in a world where people hide behind social media and emails, and with time-pressed journalists increasingly short on a moment to spare, it can be easier said than done.
Every month the Democracy team head down to London armed with our comfiest shoes and stacks of client news for a little quality one-on-one time with our great contacts to help build new, and nurture existing, media relationships.
In the space of one day last month, we met key journalists from the likes of the Press Association, The Sunday Times, The Sun, Love It!, Shortlist and You & Your Wedding to name but a few.
It was a great opportunity to get in front of (what can be) really hard to reach and busy journalists and show them some of our great products, plus find out exactly how we can help them out with their latest features.
You always find that talking face-to-face can help spark some really interesting new feature ideas… who knew that starting up a conversation about our mutual love of dogs would lead to such great coverage for Peamutt Butter? (Coming soon!!)
So it’s safe to say that here at Democracy we will be heading down again next month to pound the streets of London (or anywhere else for that matter) to get people talking about our fabulous clients and continue to make friends with our media chums…because in the world of PR it’s all about your relationships!
